Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I get started, and who do you work with?
You can reach out via the contact form to schedule an initial session. The first session is a space to get to know each other, discuss what brings you to therapy, and decide how we might best work together.
I work with adult clients (18 and older), both individuals and couples, with the option of occasionally including a partner, friend, or family member if this supports the process. How long are sessions and how often do we meet?
Each session lasts 50 minutes, allowing time for a full session and a short pause between clients, ensuring I can be fully present with each person I meet. Frequency depends on your needs, some clients prefer weekly sessions, others biweekly or even monthly. We’ll discuss what feels right for you during our first meeting. How long does therapy usually take?
This varies from person to person and depends on what brings you to therapy. Some clients come for short-term, goal-oriented work, while others prefer a longer-term process to explore deeper patterns. We’ll discuss what feels right for you during our initial sessions. What are your fees and payment methods?
Please contact me directly for fee details and available options. Sessions can be paid via bank transfer or Wise. What if I need to cancel a session?
If you need to cancel a session, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance, so I can offer the slot to another client.
Cancelations made less than 24 hours before the session are subject to charge.Do you offer both online and in-person sessions in Barcelona?
Yes, I offer both formats. In-person sessions are held at Carrer del Rosselló 88, Entresuelo, Puerta Tercera, 08029 Barcelona, and online sessions for clients in Spain, across Europe and internationally. You’re welcome to switch between formats depending on your needs or location, as I can often adjust my schedule to accommodate different time zones. What languages do you offer therapy in?
I offer sessions in German (native), English, Spanish, and Dutch, and I also speak Italian, Catalan, and French at an advanced level. Having lived abroad for many years and worked across several cultures, I know first-hand how language shapes emotional experience and self-expression, something I take into account when working multilingually with clients. -
What types of therapy do you offer?
My work is integrative. I combine Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, with Systemic Relational Therapy (SRT), which explores how relationships and emotional contexts influence well-being. This approach takes into account your emotional and relational world to support understanding, healing, and lasting change. You can read more about this under Therapy.

Why is cultural sensitivity important in therapy?
Cultural sensitivity is fundamental in my approach to therapy. The recognition of how culture influences values, communication, emotional expression and identity is paramount for an authentic therapy experience. In a cross-cultural context, this awareness fosters understanding, helps prevent misunderstandings, and creates space for your full identity to be seen, something especially important when living abroad or between cultures. What are the benefits of bilingual or multilingual therapy?
Most people that have grown up with different languages and/or are living between cultures think, feel, and process emotions in more than one language. Bilingual or multilingual therapy offers the flexibility to express yourself in whichever language feels most natural in the moment. I actively consider how culture, language, and personal background influence emotions and relationships, which allows deeper emotional access, supports identity integration, and helps bridge the gap between your current and native cultural contexts.Do you work with expats, intercultural couples, and international clients?
Yes, I have extensive experience supporting expats, intercultural couples, and international clients in managing adaptation, belonging, and communication across cultures.
As an expat myself and a university lecturer in Cross-Cultural Psychology and The Global Psychology of Happiness and Well-Being, I bring both personal and academic understanding to this work. -
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, everything shared in our sessions is strictly confidential.
Only in exceptional cases, for example, if there is an imminent risk to your safety or that of others, am I legally required to share information, and even then, only in ways that protect your integrity as much as possible. Confidentiality and trust are central to my work, and you are always free to choose what information you feel comfortable sharing. What do I do if I need help urgently?
If you are in crisis or need urgent psychological support, please contact your local hospital or the emergency number 112. I do not provide emergency services and am only available during office hours. If you are outside Spain, please contact your local hospital, local emergency number or crisis hotline in your country.
